Jessica Reijnders-Schessel
I have a dream. I foresee a brilliant future in which the people of this world live in balance: taking in wholesome food, finding pleasure in what they do, reveling in their own physicality, communicating and growing in their relationships and engaging in deep spiritual practice. The current health crisis—with its epidemics of obesity, heart disease, diabetes and cancer—will be resolved. No longer will doctors rely on expensive medications and risky operations to fix what is wrong. Instead, healthcare will focus on love, education, prevention and empowerment of the individual. People will come to trust the wisdom of their own bodies. They will recognize the plain power of sleep, water, clean food and movement to keep them aglow with health and vitality*.

Outward change always begins from within the individual. And when individuals come together - when a unified, dedicated group of like-minded souls works toward a common goal - a force for social change is created*. I can help you make that change and together we can find a lifestyle and diet that fits you personally.

My name is Jessica Reijnders-Schessel and I am a graduate of "The Institute of Integrative Nutrition" in New York and am a health counselor certified by Columbia University's Teachers College. I was fortunate to study with an amazing group of same- minded people and had wonderful and inspiring teachers such as Dr Andrew Weil and Dr. Deepak Chopra. I would like to share with you my work philosophy and some details of the six-month program that I offer. I will also include a link to my website and hope you will enjoy reading a bit more about "Integrative Nutrition" and the field I am working in.

With my six-month wellness program I will help people on a bio-individual basis to improve their nutrition and to find a balance in their "primary foods" - career, exercise, relationships and spiritual practices. I do not prescribe specific rules but aim to identify together with the client what works best for them as they discover what "taking care of one self" really means. This can relate to many areas such as taking care of our bodies, our hearts, communities or planet. I believe that everything is interrelated and that a conscious approach towards what changes are needed for the well being of our Self and our world will benefit all.

During my program I will address any personal concerns a client might have. I will make lifestyle suggestions; give handouts, DVD's and books to help guide my clients. Besides focusing on food and diet during the meetings with each client I will discuss whatever is important in their lives and where more balance and happiness is needed. Being a licensed mental health counselor there will be enough space and time for the more personal issues and concerns a client might have. Besides our biweekly meetings I will be available via email, will give several cooking classes and together we will visit a health-food store where I will help clients navigate through the abundance of helpful items and supplements available to an informed consumer.

The New Year is around the corner and many of us would like to make a fresh and new start. Placing taking care of yourself on the top of your list will ensure a wonderful year ahead; therefore I am offering an extra incentive to start your new healthier future sooner than latter. The usual fee for the six-month wellness program is $1,200, but will be reduced to $1,000 if you sign up before the end of January 2008.
